FAQ

Questions people ask before handing over.

If yours isn't here, email info@charterstonetech.com.

The basics

What does "digital asset management" mean here?

We mean the day-to-day running of your web and digital assets: apps, service portals, websites, and the domains, servers and accounts behind them. It is not the media-library software that's sometimes sold under the same name.

What kinds of product do you take on?

Web apps, service portals, membership and customer sites, marketing sites, and the integrations around them (for example WhatsApp, payment providers and email). If it's live on the web and people depend on it, we can usually run it.

Do you build new features too?

Small features and fixes, yes, through the improvement hours in a Run + Improve plan. For a large new build we'll say so plainly and help you scope it.

Who will actually look after my product?

One named owner at Charterstone Tech who answers for it, backed by the runbook, so the work never depends on one person's memory.

Ownership and access

Who owns the domain, code and accounts?

You do. Domains, code repositories, cloud, email and payment accounts stay in your name. We work through access you grant and can withdraw at any time.

Will you ask for my passwords?

No. We'll ask you to invite a named account of ours, or create one, with only the access the task needs. Passwords and API keys never travel by email or chat.

Can we leave, and how hard is it?

Monthly agreements end on one month's notice. You get a handback pack (runbook, access register, hosting map, change log and a fresh backup), and we remove our access and confirm it in writing.

Security and data

How do you handle personal data?

As your processor, under a written data processing agreement, using only the data a task needs. We tell you about any breach without undue delay so you can meet your own reporting duties.

What happens when something breaks at night?

Our monitoring checks your product from outside around the clock and alerts us. Critical issues get a response within 1 hour during cover hours (07:00 to 23:00 UK time, seven days a week). If your users need longer cover, we agree it in your service schedule.

SEO, payments and reporting

Do you guarantee search rankings?

No one honestly can. We do the technical work search engines reward (speed, structure, metadata, sitemaps, fixing errors) and report the trends every month.

Do customer payments pass through you?

Never. Payments go straight into your own payment provider account. We set it up and run the routine work, without permission to move money out.

What's in the monthly report?

Uptime and incidents, changes made, security updates, users and support, search visibility, a billing summary and our recommendations, in plain English.

Getting started

How long does a handover take?

About three to four weeks for a single app or site, in five stages: assess, inventory, shadow, take the wheel, then run. Larger estates take longer, and we agree the plan first.

How much does it cost?

A free assessment, then a fixed onboarding fee and a fixed monthly fee per asset. Hosting and third-party costs are billed to you directly or passed on at cost. Our pricing page explains what moves the price.

Our product is a mess. Will you still take it?

Usually, yes. The assessment tells us both what needs stabilising first. That becomes a short project before the regular running starts.

Still have a question?
